TCM Standard Probes

Flexible probe solutions for precise eddy current inspection with the TCM

Flexible for every inspection task. Selecting the appropriate probe is essential for achieving reliable results in eddy current testing. For use with the TCM testing system, FOERSTER offers a comprehensive portfolio of standard probes as well as customer-specific sensor geometries that can be optimally adapted to a wide range of inspection tasks.

Depending on the application, different probe elements with specific characteristics are available.

  • Absolute probes (ABS) operate independently of orientation and are particularly suitable for applications requiring high sensitivity to material variations.
  • Differential probes (DIFF) are direction-sensitive and significantly reduce the influence of the base material. They are ideally suited for detecting local defect structures but are insensitive to longitudinal defects.
  • Cross-coil probes also enable direction-sensitive inspection with low material influence and are insensitive to defect orientations of approximately 45°.

These probe elements can be integrated into a wide variety of probe designs, allowing optimal adaptation to the respective inspection position. In addition to a broad selection of standard probe configurations, FOERSTER also develops customer-specific solutions to ensure reliable inspection even in difficult-to-access areas. Depending on the inspection requirements, probes can be equipped with integrated guidance elements or wear protection solutions, for example made of titanium.

Furthermore, all probe elements can be implemented as array probes with up to 512 integrated sensor elements. This enables efficient coverage of larger inspection areas and allows complex inspection tasks to be performed faster and with increased precision.

Typical application areas of TCM probes range from high-resolution crack detection to residual wall thickness measurement and reliable weld inspection.
