Precise Position Tracking for Flexible Eddy Current Inspections
Inspect surfaces faster. Document results with precision. The TCM Position Encoder enhances mobile eddy current inspections with the TCM by providing precise optical position tracking. It enables accurate localization of inspection signals while visualizing the area already inspected in real time.
Thanks to its optical sensing technology, the Position Encoder captures movement freely in both the X and Y directions. Unlike conventional direction-dependent position tracking systems, inspection surfaces can be scanned flexibly without following a predefined path. This enables faster inspections, complete surface coverage, and precise documentation of the inspection process.
The Position Encoder can be used with all TCM standard pencil probes with a probe diameter of up to 14 mm, as well as with TCM Array Probes. This makes it suitable for a wide range of mobile eddy current inspection applications – from manual crack detection to large-area inspections using Eddy Current Array technology. Its simple mounting design allows existing probes to be retrofitted quickly, extending their functionality without additional inspection effort. For high-resolution array probes, the Position Encoder is already integrated.
