Product Security

Cybersecurity is an essential part of reliable industrial inspection systems. At FOERSTER, security is integrated throughout the entire product lifecycle – from development and testing to maintenance and continuous improvement. Our goal is to help customers operate their systems securely while ensuring the transparent handling of potential security vulnerabilities in accordance with the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA).

SECURITY WHERE IT MATTERS

Cybersecurity is an integral part of the development and lifecycle management of FOERSTER products. From the earliest design stages, security requirements are considered alongside functionality, performance and reliability. Structured development processes, defined coding standards and regular security assessments help identify and reduce potential risks before products are released.

Cybersecurity does not end with product release. Throughout the product lifecycle, FOERSTER continuously evaluates emerging threats, reviews reported vulnerabilities and implements appropriate mitigation measures where required. When a verified vulnerability affects one of our products, we publish transparent Security Advisories containing relevant information, recommended actions and available software updates to support secure operation.

By combining preventive security measures with a structured vulnerability management process, we help our customers maintain the integrity, availability and reliability of their systems over the long term.

Our Product Security Principles

  • Security by Design – Security requirements are integrated throughout the entire product development process.
  • Secure by Default – Products are delivered with secure default configurations wherever appropriate.
  • Continuous Vulnerability Management – Potential vulnerabilities are continuously identified, assessed and addressed.
  • Security Testing – Internal security assessments and independent penetration tests help verify product resilience.
  • Responsible Vulnerability Disclosure – We encourage responsible reporting of suspected vulnerabilities and investigate every valid report.
  • Security Advisories – Verified vulnerabilities are communicated transparently together with recommended mitigation measures and available software updates where applicable.

About the Cyber Resilience Act

The Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) establishes mandatory cybersecurity requirements for products with digital elements placed on the European market. Its goal is to strengthen the cybersecurity of connected products by requiring manufacturers to integrate security throughout the product lifecycle – from secure development and vulnerability management to security updates and transparent communication of verified security issues. Although the CRA is an EU regulation, its principles reflect internationally recognized best practices. FOERSTER is committed to these principles by embedding cybersecurity into product development and providing a structured process for vulnerability management and responsible disclosure.
