Testing of residual magnetic fields in non-magnetic electronic connectors

The challenge
Manufacturers of magnetically sensitive equipment, such as imaging systems, must ensure that connectors and components are magnetically clean. Even if raw materials are qualified as non-magnetic, processing can introduce magnetic contamination. For small connectors only a few millimetres in size, conventional permeability testing is no longer suitable, requiring an alternative high-sensitivity method.
The solution
Residual magnetic field measurement is performed using MAGNETOSCOP or MAGNETOMAT with a differential probe such as the PFD-100. The opposing sensor arrangement compensates for environmental magnetic disturbances while detecting local anomalies. Components are positioned on one sensor, enabling precise evaluation of remanent magnetic signatures without magnetic shielding.
The result
The differential measurement approach enables highly sensitive detection of residual magnetic fields on small connectors. Environmental interference is effectively minimized, improving reproducibility and reliability.
