Temperature Distribution Analysis
The thermal behavior of industrial components provides valuable insights into their functionality, mechanical loading and operational reliability. Localized overheating and uneven temperature distributions may indicate increased friction, improper contact conditions or performance irregularities. FOERSTER offers thermographic inspection solutions to detect and analyze these anomalies without contact – supporting reliable quality control and optimized industrial processes.
Whether caused by mechanical loading, friction or heat generated during operation, many industrial components develop characteristic temperature patterns that provide insights into their functional performance and operating conditions. One example is thermographic gear contact pattern inspection, where friction-generated heat is used to visualize contact areas on gear tooth flanks and evaluate their position and distribution. Unlike conventional contact pattern inspection using marking compounds, thermography enables non-contact detection and digital analysis of these patterns. Unusual temperature distributions in other components may also indicate increased friction, localized overload or unfavorable operating conditions.
FOERSTER uses passive infrared thermography to examine the thermal behavior of components without additional controlled thermal excitation. Infrared cameras capture the thermal radiation emitted by components and visualize temperature differences as thermal images. By analyzing spatial temperature patterns and their development over time, thermal anomalies can be identified and changes in operating behavior assessed. Depending on the application, measurements can be performed under defined test conditions, integrated into automated inspection processes, and digitally evaluated and documented.
With extensive expertise in thermographic inspection, FOERSTER supports manufacturers in the objective and repeatable evaluation of functional component characteristics. Non-contact analysis enables early detection of critical temperature deviations, targeted assessment of contact conditions and reliable evaluation of component quality. Automated inspection processes and digital measurement results provide the foundation for efficient quality assurance, optimized manufacturing processes and improved operational reliability.
