Hybrid test system with automatic part handling for non-destructive testing

Dual testing of components with complex geometries. NDT COMBICELL combines different nondestructive testing methods in a modular system and is particularly suited for components with complex geometries. The base module includes a handling robot and eddy current crack testing. Depending on the testing task, it can be supplemented with an additional module for active thermography or magneto-inductive material testing.

For eddy current testing, a high-precision robotic system guides the probe along the component without contact. Additional component geometries can be easily programmed. For active thermography, the robot positions the test part in front of the inductor and camera. The component is inductively heated and evaluated based on the captured IR images. Multiple test zones can be inspected sequentially and evaluated together. Alternatively, magneto-inductive testing enables automated evaluation of material properties.

Each testing module has its own control system and can be operated within NDT COMBICELL, as a stand-alone solution, or integrated into an existing production line. The modular design also allows additional testing modules to be added for customer-specific requirements.

Loading can be performed manually or automatically from the production line. The handling robot picks up the components and moves them between the individual testing stations, enabling continuous part tracking throughout the process. After testing, components are automatically sorted into accepted and rejected parts, and the results are documented. NDT COMBICELL is therefore suitable for 100% inspection within the production line as well as sample testing or external contract testing.
