FOERSTER acquires edevis GmbH and expands expertise in active thermography

FOERSTER has acquired edevis GmbH, a specialist in active thermography based in Leinfelden-Echterdingen near Stuttgart, Germany. By joining forces, both companies are combining their technological expertise and creating a strong foundation for expanding the use of active thermography across industrial applications.

FOERSTER and edevis have been working closely together since December 2020, focusing on induction thermography for the non-destructive testing of metallic components. Over the past years, both companies have combined their expertise to develop solutions for demanding industrial inspection tasks. The acquisition is the next step in this successful collaboration, bringing technology and market development together under the FOERSTER Group.

Expanding the possibilities of active thermography

edevis is a pioneer in active thermography and significantly expands FOERSTER’s existing technology portfolio. In addition to induction thermography, the company brings expertise in methods such as laser and optical thermography.

These additional technologies considerably broaden the range of potential applications. While induction thermography is particularly suited to electrically conductive materials, the expanded portfolio also addresses applications involving composites, plastics and ceramics. This opens up new opportunities for nondestructive testing across materials, industries and markets beyond traditional metal inspection.

The combination brings together complementary strengths. edevis contributes specialized thermography technologies, many years of application experience and in-depth expertise. FOERSTER adds decades of experience in industrial nondestructive testing as well as an established global sales and service network with direct access to customers in numerous markets.

Together, these capabilities create the foundation for making active thermography solutions available to a significantly broader international customer base. At the same time, FOERSTER will continue to develop the technology and explore new applications for active thermography across industrial quality assurance.

For FOERSTER, the acquisition represents another important step in expanding its NDT portfolio and strengthening active thermography as a key technology for future inspection applications.
