Eddy current testing is a non-destructive method for testing metal surfaces for defects such as longitudinal and transverse cracks. The type of testing performed, using comprehensive through-type coils or rotating probes, depends on the type of defect. The test method can be optimally integrated in the production process.
During leakage flux testing, the surface of components or semi-finished products is temporarily magnetized and scanned by contacting or contactless test heads. This non-destructive test method can detect longitudinal, transverse, and point defects.
Ultrasound testing is a non-destructive test method that can be used for detecting defects and irregularities in the material. This method also facilitates precision measurements of the wall thickness of a tube or the plate thickness.
Thermography is increasingly gaining in importance and provides new approaches for test tasks which could not be solved at all until now or only to dissatisfying extent. By analyzing the thermal flow and/or heat conductivity of the test pieces, even the smallest defects in the material surface can be detected and visualized.
The magnetic induction testing method is used in the automotive and aviation sectors as well as in the production of semi-finished products for the non-destructive testing of materials for their properties. Typical test tasks include hardness checks, material differentiation and sorting.
Magnetic field measurement is used for measuring disruptions in the Earth's magnetic field caused by ferromagnetic objects. This is suitable for detecting ferromagnetic metals and materials. The detection depth depends on the mass and magnetic properties of an item.
Increasingly tough quality requirements in the metal sector require test systems that can detect surface defects with a depth as shallow as in the µm range. As technological leader, we have made it our mission to visualize quality and to help shape the future of non-destructive testing.
The automotive sector and its continuously increasing quality requirements present suppliers with ever increasing challenges. Consistent quality control of individual components is therefore the standard in modern production lines so as to meet these requirements.
The aerospace sector is characterized by innovation and hightech. Apart from the development of aircraft, spacecraft, and satellites, servicing also forms an important segment within the sector. Find out about FOERSTER's contribution on the following page.
Medical technology is engaged in the application and implementation of technical products and services in the medical sector. The aim is to continuously improve aspects such as diagnostics, therapy, and the quality of life of patients. It is therefore of great importance to produce defect-free materials.
FOERSTER produces individual test instruments as well as complex multi-function test blocks with various integrated test systems. FOERSTER aims to offer excellent advice and close cooperation to its customers to ensure that these systems are tailored to meet their specific requirements.
Today, the soil on this planet still contains weapons from previous wars, which pose a potential risk. The high-precision test instruments by FOERSTER reliably detect such metals and soil contamination. We therefore help to increase safety.
Military technology is characterized by great innovation comprised of various engineering sciences. Many military technology developments have also found their firm place in civil life. Go to the next page to find out the connection between the navy and FOERSTER, for instance.
The petrochemical sector produces chemical products from natural gas and crude oil. This process takes place in refineries and steam reforming plants. Take a look at the fascinating work of FOERSTER in the petrochemical sector on the following page.
Natural gas and crude oil are important raw substances used by many industries. They form the basis for all types of plastic and serve as fossil energy carriers for the production of electricity and as fuel for almost all types of vehicles. Defect-free materials are a basic requirement to ensure a smooth production process.
With its test instruments, FOERSTER supports a diverse range of scientific sectors with their research and development. FOERSTER's roots are in physical research and we therefore endeavor to support future generations of researchers and their projects.
What was life like in the past? What were people's homes like and how did the human culture develop? Archeology attempts to find answers to these questions and FOERSTER supports such projects by providing probes for the non-destructive visualization of traces from times gone by hidden in the ground.
FOERSTER service starts with in-depth consultations - leading to installations and launches - continuing with regular maintenance and calibrations - and is completed by the 24/7 hotline - always side-by-side with the customer. The extensive training program supports users in their daily work.
The broad range of services offered by FOERSTER even includes measurement of magnetic values as well as reformer tube inspection in chemical plants such as ammoniac and methanol supply plants. Our subsidiary Magnetische Pruefanlagen GmbH in Reutlingen specializes in non-destructive material testing in the chemical industry.
FOERSTER offers a wide range of user training courses to enable users to operate its products perfectly and to configure the most important parameters on their own. Trainings specifically for service and maintenance are available as well. Individual trainings can be scheduled on top.
In addition to its first-class products, FOERSTER as turnkey specialist offers the incorporation of complete test lines. Modern application labs for individual customer requirement testing and a geophysical test field complement the performance portfolio and offer various advantages of an international network.
